Hi and Welcome! I Am Thrilled That You Are Here!
I’m Monica. This website was born out of my love for art, photography, travel, and the tropics coupled with a never-ending sense of curiosity. I am equally excited when I explore the wonders of California, my home state, or discover faraway exotic destinations. My faithful travel companion is always a camera or an i-phone to document the world one snapshot at the time.
I grew up in Sweden. Since Sweden has many dark and cold months, it’s natural for Swedes to chase the sun. So when I was 19, I went on my first international trip; to Africa. It was sunny and scorching hot, and a culture shock, but the thrill of visiting the jungle, and then the next day-shark fishing-opened my eyes to the possibilities in the world.
Since then I have flown thousands of miles, slept in all sorts of places from luxury, gold-plated hotels in Paris to modest rooms in Thailand. I’ve tried French Michelin starred cuisine, local spicy ethnic street food, and chocolate-covered grasshoppers.
When I am not traveling, I spend my time in Northern California writing or creating something, currently a series of abstract expressions. I also operate an event planning company that takes me to beautiful places like wineries in Sonoma or ocean view properties in Big Sur.
My blog mission is to inspire YOU who are ready to begin a creative project, and/or to embark on an epic adventure. If you wish to combine travel or staycation with creative projects, volunteer work, or with side hustles you have come to the right place. I will share my tips and knowledge here.
